Dial

Photograph a watch, confirm the model, and see what the cheap end of the market is really asking — with the suspiciously cheap listings thrown out first.

Dial — Point. Scan. Value.
  1. 1 CaptureOne photo of the watch goes to the server, which identifies it with Claude vision.
  2. 2 IdentifyUp to three candidates come back, each with a confidence level and a way to verify it; when two sizes look alike, both are shown and you confirm the right one.
  3. 3 DetailsYou add what a photo can’t show: the year, whether it has its box and papers, and its condition.
  4. 4 MarketAsking prices for that reference are sorted, anything under 60% of the median is dropped, and the lowest 20 that remain are averaged.
  5. 5 ValueThe lowest ask, the low-20 average, the median and the sample size arrive together, never as one confident number.

Figures are illustrative.

How it values

The server gathers marketplace asking prices for the confirmed reference, cached for 24 hours per reference. The phone never talks to any outside service directly. With no keys, the server runs on demo data and says so with a banner.

  1. If you said the watch comes with its box and papers, only full-set listings count; if not, only listings without.
  2. The prices are sorted and the median found.
  3. Anything below 60% of the median is dropped as suspiciously cheap. That end of the market is where fakes, parts and franken-watches live.
  4. The report gives the lowest remaining ask as the headline figure, then the average of up to 20 lowest remaining asks, the median, the number of comparable listings and how many were excluded.
  5. At least three listings are needed. Prices are in pounds sterling.

It never gives one confident number. The lowest ask, the low-20 average, the median and the sample size sit together, so a thin market is plain to see. In the example above: 37 listings, a median of £3,250, a floor of £1,950, 4 excluded, a lowest ask of £2,450 and an average of £3,037 across the 20 lowest.
